Pro Rugby Coach’s Sam Vesty has been appointed to the England coaching staff for the upcoming tour of Argentina.

The 35-year-old Worcester Warriors attack coach was asked to meet Eddie Jones at Twickenham to discuss the role and the head coach of the Six Nations champions was impressed by what he heard.

Vesty will be England’s attack coach for the two-Test series against the Pumas.

Jones told www.englandrugby.com: “I was impressed by how Worcester attack. He interviewed very well. He’s got a nice feel for the game and I think he can add to us and help us with the attack.”

‘It’s a huge honour for me’

Vesty added: “It’s a huge honour for me and I am really looking forward to learning off of some world class coaches in a high-quality environment.”

Vesty made 228 appearances during stints at Leicester Tigers and Bath Rugby, and was voted as members’ player of the year and players’ player of the year during his time at home-town club, Leicester.

More recently, he has helped steer Worcester Cavaliers to the Aviva A League final for the very first time in the 2014/15 season, while also playing a big role in helping a young Warriors side reach the latter stages of the British & Irish Cup.

Capped at under 18 and under 21 level for his country, he also made two senior appearances for England against Argentina in 2009.
